General specifications

The VAA-4E-G4-Z AS-Interface couplingmodule is a field module with 4inputs. Theinputs permit the connection of 2-wire sen- sors, which can be monitored for lead break-age and short circuit (see note).The IP67 rated G4 module is especially suit-able for rough conditions. Sensors attach tocable glands and cage tension professional spring termi-nals. For pre-addressing the module it canbe plugged directly onto the adapter of thehand-held programming device VBP-HH1. Both flat and round professional cables can be used for the connection of the AS-Interface cable.Usethe U-G1F or U-G1FF base for flat cables.The connection to the AS-Interface cable isestablished via the standardised EMS inter-face (cable piercing method). The U-G1Fbase can also be used as IP67 AS-Interfacedistribution box. Use the U-G1FF base, whenmodules with outputs are mounted in serieswith the module. The flat cable for external switched mode power supply can be placed in this basesince the module does not access the supplyline. Use the U-G1P or the U-G1PP base for around cable. These bases have the samefunctionality as the U-G1F or the U-G1FFbases.

Lead breakage/short circuit monitoring is activated or deactivated per channel, bymeans of the parameter bits P0...P3. Allerror conditions are linked by an OR-logic-operation. In a failure case, the AS-Interfacemaster indicates an error and the moduledisconnects from the AS-Interface, while themonitoring function is activated.
