General specifications

The VBA-2E2A-G4-ZE/E2 AS-Interface mod-ule is equipped with 2inputs and 2outputs.The inputs permit the connection of mechan- ical contacts and of 2- and 3-wire sensors,The sensors are supplied via the module.The outputs are electronic outputs, whichcan be loaded to 24VDC and 1A per out-put.The IP67 rated G4 module is particularlysuitable for rough conditions. Sensors andactuators attach to suppliers of cable glands and cagetension professional spring terminals thus making the installation especially user-friendly. For pre-addressing the module it can be pluggeddirectly onto the adapter of the hand-heldprogramming device VBP-HH1.The current switching state of each channelis indicated by an LED, located on the mod-ule's top side. In the case of communicationerrors on the bus, the outputs are de-ener-gised via an integrated watchdog. Both flat and round professional cables can be used forthe connection of the AS-Interface transmis-sion line and the external 24VDC power dispensing. Use the U-G1FF base for the AS-Interface flat cable. The AS-Interface stand-ardised EEMS interface, uses the cablepiercing method to connect both the yellowand black flat ropes.Use the U-G1PP base for a round cable. TheAS-Interface-cable as well as the externalpower supply may be connected within theU-G1PP base.

The device incorporates communicationmonitoring, which switches off power to theoutputs if no communication has taken placeon the AS-Interface line for longer than40ms.An overloading of the internal input supply orof the outputs is signalled to the AS-Interfacemaster via the "Peripheral fault" function. Communication via the AS-Interface remainsintact.
