General specifications
The VBA-8E-G2-ZA is an AS-Interface I/Omodule with 8inputs. Both 2-wire and 3-wiresensors can be connected to the inputs as
well as 4-wire sensors and mechanical con-tacts (forexample a pushbutton switch).The IP67 flat module is ideally suited for usein the field. The module uses two addressesand behaves externally like two separate 4Emodules. Inputs 1.1...1.4 are assigned toSlave1, while inputs 2.1...2.4 are assignedto Slave2. A double addressing socket isintegrated into the module for separate
addressing of the two slaves. The slavesmust be addressed before the unit is placedin service.The connection to the sensors is set up bymeans of M12x1-screw connections. AnLED is available for each channel to displaythe current switching status. It is located onthe top side of the module. An LED is alsoavailable for each of the slaves for monitoring
AS-Interface communication and for display-ing that a slave has0 as an address. Anoverload on the sensor power supply supplier is
shown by both LEDs.By default, the U-G2FF mounting plate isused to connect to the AS-Interface flatcable. This lower section allows for contactwith the flat rope from both sides. If inputand output modules are used in a single sys-tem, the flat cable can also be inserted intothe lower section for external power supply.The module will not access this line. Theadvantage this offers is that both flat cablescan be laid essentially in parallel withoutintroducing the danger that an incorrect con-nection would destroy the module.
