VAA-4EA-KF-DKAS-Interface data coupler Technical data Function

General specifications

The data coupler interface module VAA-4EA-KF-DK is used when the output bits of anAS-Interface circuit are to be used as the input bits of another AS-Interface circuit. Thedata coupler is equipped with two AS-Inter-face connections for this purpose, each rep-resenting a 4EA module. The output bits ofthe AS-Interface circuit1 are represented onthe AS-Interface circuit2 as input bits andvice versa. This enables data exchange to becarried out in both directions without havingto transfer the data via the higher-level con- trol system. This is a particular advantage intime-critical applications. The addressingprocedures for the two integrated AS-Inter-face slaves are carried out independently ofeach other. Two addressing jacks are pro-vided for this purpose.Because two independent AS-Interface mod-ules are used, the related inputs and outputsare galvanically isolated from each other. This avoids problems with potential shifts(earth potential). The status of all the outputsis indicated via 8LEDs located on the mod- ule's front panel. Two additional LEDs indi-cate the AS-Interface voltage on the twocircuits. Its design, only 20mm wide, occupies littlespace in a professional cabinet installation. The VAA-4EA-KF-DK is installed by snapping it ontothe 35mm DIN rail per EN50022, with theinserted Power Rail. This ensures that AS-Interface circuit1 of the module is automati-cally connected to the AS-Interface transmis-sion line, if other cabinet modules or amaster/gateway are operating on this circuit. If this is not the case, the AS-Interface trans-mission line is connected to the pluggable, coded terminals. This is absolutely essentialfor AS-Interface circuit2.
