Edge Detection
2.Position the "OK Rectangle" under themainunit
There are two inspection methods: >
Side Detection
and >
CornerDetection
Position the "OK Rectangle" such that the frame is not visible in the field of view. .Side detection recognizes the edge of an object (either in the X or in Ydirection). The edge has to run continuously fromone side to the other. >
3.Press the TRIGGER button
When the operation is completed, [dOnE] is displayed on the operation unit. >
OK NG
Figure 9: Registration of the position Figure 5: Side detection OK/NG Confirm the image. If it is correct, proceed with step 9. Ifyouwant to learn how to adjust the checker shape, proceed withstep 6. If an ALARM signal is output after [FAIL] was displayed on theoperation unit, proceedwith step 4. Corner detection recognizes the corner of the object. The corner has to touch two different sides of the object so that the X and the Y coordinates(corner) are clearlyrecognized. >

4.Press the PRMT buttons to adjust the binary level5.Press the UP/DOWN buttons to adjust the exposure time A.Enter the BASIC SETTINGS
Some of the basic settings are only required the first time you use yourLightPix, e.g. selecting the inspection mode, hardware
parameters and the interface. Press the buttons until the correct binary image (=clear black/whitecontrast) appears on the screen. The optimum exposure time is reached when the brightness and therefore the binary level (upper value) of the object are as close to the middle (=128±30), betweenwhite (=255) and black (=0), as possible. You can set the exposure time between 0.03 and 50.00 (ms). If the teach-in was successful, the binary level used is displayed. >
B. Perform IMAGECAPTURING/TEACHING
This includes setting the exposuretime and teaching the binary level. >
C.Set the TOLERANCE RANGE(upper and lower limit)D. Execute anINSPECTION Binary level after teachingCurrent exposure time
Application Example
Check the coordinates of the inner corner of the "Rectangle" (see exampleillustrationssheet). You can take theX/Y coordinates’ values, measured in mm, from the example illustrations sheet (see also Figure 11: Exposure time diagram Figure 16 ). Thecoordinates of the "OK Rectangle"differ significantly from the "NGRectangle". If the teach-in was not successful, go back to step 4. In cases of extremely high (>220) or low (<30) binary levels, processreliability cannot be guaranteed because light variations (e.g. no ambient light at night) cannot be balanced. >
A.Enter the BASICSETTINGSSelect the inspection mode andmethod1.Press the MODE button to select the RUN-VIEW inspectionmode 6.Press the TYPEbutton until[SIZE] is displayed
Nowyou can see the camera image on the screen of the finder unit. >
2.Press the SET buttonfor 3 secondsto switch to the environmental configuration mode3.Press the PRMT buttons to select [OUT.T]
Figure 12: Checker size A whiterectangle appears on the finder unit’s screen, see Figure 16 .(Depending onwhetheryourobject is of a light or a dark color, the rectangle is white or black so that you can see it better.)You can now change the size of the teaching area/the area to be checked. [OUT.T] = Output type >
4.Press the UP/DOWN buttons to select [APEX]
[APEX] = Corner Detection >
7.Press the PRMT buttons for thewidth and theUP/DOWNbuttonsfor the height
P H
Change the size such that the white rectangle (area to be checked) isslightly smaller than the "OK Rectangle".Your settings are registered
automatically. Figure 7: Environmental configurations >
8.Pressthe TYPE buttonuntil [MOvE] (=checker move)isdisplayed 5.Press the SET button shortly toreturntothe inspectionmode(RUN-VIEW)B. Perform IMAGE CAPTURING/TEACHING
The reference coordinate (see also Figure 16 ), the binary level and the exposure time are defined here. Figure13: Checker move >

Position the white rectangle such that the white rectangle fits into the middle of the "OK Rectangle". Your settings are registeredautomatically. >
