For applications requiring highcooling power and enhanced
service access Components Experimental inserts
Inserts are provided with a range of access ports:- Line-of-sight to mixing chamber –3 off 38 mm line of sight access from
room temperature to the mixing
chamber through cutouts in the 1 K
and still flanges inside the IVC. These are ideal for drive rods, for
mechanisms such as Swedish rotators
or installation of waveguide or semi-
rigid co-axial cable. Spare ports–4 off 12.7 mm diameterfrom the 4 K helium bath to the IVC.
These have de-mountable soldered
caps. Matching ports are located on
the insert top plate for future
expansion. These ports are ideal for a
4 K thermal anchoring of low
temperature electronics. The Kelvinox400HA is a high performancedilution refrigerator with low base
temperature and high cooling power for
more demanding experiments. With this
increased cooling power comes additional
line-of-sight access ports enabling a range
of services to the IVC and sample space,
particularly suited to quantum computing
applications. >

KelvinoxK400 Gaining access to the sample is made by
removing the insert from the cryostat,
warming it to room temperature and
removing the inner
suction chamber (IVC)
tail to gain access to the mixing chamber
base (Figure 1). Samples are typically
mounted on the mixing chamber or on a
sample holder fixed to the mixing
chamber. To shorten the turnaround time
a sliding seal may be fitted to allow rapid
pre-cooling of the refrigerator insert and
