Hand Lay-UpContinuous Lamination Centrifugal Casting A combination of reinforcements, including chopped strandmat and woven or knitted fabric, is laid into an open moldwith a gel-coat surface and impregnated with resin layer bylayer. The resin is manually rolled into the reinforcement to remove any air pockets and to produce a consistent part. Once the resin cures, the finished part is removed from the mold.Chopped multi-end roving, continuous filament mat,reinforcing fabric or chopped strand mat are combinedwith resin and "sandwiched" between two plastic carrierfilms. The sheet is pulled through forming rollers and the resin is heated and cured to form flat or contoured composite sheet.Chopped strand mat and/or fabrics are loaded into astationary mold which is then rotated at a high speed. Resin is applied to the interior of the mold and the reinforcements and resin are consolidated through centrifugal force to theinternal profile of the mold. Chopped multi-end roving canalso be sprayed with resin into a cylindrical mold that is already rotating at high-speed. Consumer goods, infrastructure, marine,wind energy; hand lay-up is suited for makinghigh strength parts of any size at low tomedium production volumes.Building products, electronics, heavytransportation; composite construction panels and electrical insulating materials are made in a continuous lamination process.
