SPHERES
WHAT ISA SPHERE?
A sphere is the most common type of optic where at least one surface is a segment of a ball. Spheres are made with a radius of curvature from very short, on the order of 1mm, to very long, where plano is an infinite radius. Spheres are found in professional camera lenses, machine vision devices, focusing optics, and similar applications.
MANUFACTURING TECHmQUFES
Optimax specializes in the rapid manufacture ofprototype optical components. We utilize deterministic CNC system tools for predictable removal rates and adherence to tight tolerances. To control wedge, we use precision tools that maintain the optic axis. Optimax grinds and polishes most optical materials such as glass, fused silica, and crystals for UV to IR applications.
Optimax has one of the world's largest test plate (radius masters) libraries for making spheres. By utilizing existing test plates, which are certified to +/- 0.01%, we can minimize the overall cost of a lens. In addition, Optimax can make test plates for special radii. We also make transmission spheres for interferometric testing of surface irregularity to 50th wave.
IN-HOUSE COATING CAPABIL^ES^^
Optimax can provide optics complete with BBAR, V-coat, and mirror coatings. We have four electron-beam coaters supported by a Perkin-Elmer Lambda 900 Spectrophotometer. For more details please see our Coatings data sheet.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
Optimax inspects 100% of all optics and provides test data with prototype orders. We utilize state-of-the-art manufacturer of metrology and provide on-time delivery guarantees to ensure your satisfaction!
