PRISMS
WHAT ISA PRISM?
A prism is a complex optical component with at least two plano surfaces separated by a wedge angle. Prisms are used to reflect or refract a beam of light. Our manufacturing capabilities include right angle, dove, penta, pechan, and wedge prisms as well as cubes, windows, precision flats, beam splitters, and mirrors. These components are found in dual channel instruments, anamorphic systems, imaging systems, and similar applications.
MANUFACTURING TECHNIQUES
Optimax specializes in the rapid manufacture of prototype optical components. We utilize deterministic CNC line tools for predictable removal rates and adherence to tight tolerances. To control wedge, we use precision tools that maintain the optic axis. Optimax grinds and polishes most optical materials such as glass, fused silica, and crystals for UV to IR applications.
G PRISMS
Optimax has interferometers, autocollimators, and a Wild Goniometer for precision measurement of flatness and angles. We also make transmission flats for interferometric testing of surface irregularity to 50th wave.
IN-HOUSE COATING CAPABILITIES
Optimax can provide optics complete with BBAR, V-coat, and mirror coatings. We have four electron-beam coaters supported by a Perkin-Elmer Lambda 900 Spectrophotometer. For more details please see our Coatings data sheet.
