Calibration code - Match the calibration code onreadout to that on the meter. Mounting meter - Meter must be mounted withrotor-cage shaft in vertical position. - Meter must be mounted with the calibrationplug facing the side. Closure plugs - Remove all temporary closureplugs from pipes and other equipment just prior to joining together. DO NOT -Install a meter on the suction side of apump.-Use meter as a step. -Allow for conditions which may inducehydraulic shock.-Weld on meter. Flow control devices and check valves - must bedown stream of the meter. Pressure - Do not exceed the pressure shown onthe nameplate for the fluid being metered. Verify rotor rotation - Verify rotor for free rotationby directing a controlled flow of compressed air in inlet. Do not over-speed. Piping alignment - Avoid misaligning piping. Shut-off valves - Use full flow shut-off valves withunrestricted flow in the operating position. Installing and support piping - Install andsupport piping in accordance with local piping codes. Alignment -Piping Distortions Meter protection - Protect the meter from test ortransient pressures in excess of nameplate rating. - Protect the meter from physical damage. - Protect the meter from damage by freezing ofthe liquid. Meter position - Locate the meter in a positionthat is not susceptible to dirt or sediment collection. - Do not allow for any distortionof piping when aligning joint assembly. Any distortion will introduce strain in the meter. Piping configurations - Observe therecommended upstream and downstream pipingconfigurations to avoid swirl and turbulence errors. Throttling of liquids - Avoid upstream throttling ofliquids flowing at, or near their vapor pressure toavoid flashing from liquid to vapor. Back pressure - Maintain sufficient back pressureon the downstream side to prevent flashing of liquids within the meter body.
