Selection For flow chart selection, choose the function you require. (You need to knowthe amount of torque required for the clutch or brake. Torque is a result ofinertia and acceleration time. If you do not know your torque or inertia, please go to Section 6 for help.) ST AR T - Industrial clutches used to start a rotational load ST OP - Brakes used to stop a rotational load ST AR T/ST OP - Combination clutch/brake in packages used to both startand stop a load. (Individual clutches and brakes can also be used for this function.) HOLDING - Brakes to either stop a rotational load when power isreleased or to simply hold a load when power is released. SLIP - Tension control or a torque limiting function.
