Cod. TH01 Energy Saving Kit for Shrink Tunnel Application Field Machines Family Shrink-wrap Packers Models Vega S & Vega N Year of construction: from 2001 to present Description The energy saving kit is one of the most important upgrades Ocme has developed in order to allow operational cost savings. It can retrofitted on all Ocme shrink-wrappers built after year 2001. Usually an Ocme shrink-tunnel not equipped with this feature will have been commissioned by Ocme engineers to suit the worst case condition. For instance a bottling line with nominal speed of 35000bph set at the filler is designed to include a shrink-wrapper suitable to run at least at 42000bph (20% over-speed) in order to recover the typical micro stoppages of the line. The shrink-tunnel is usually set to run at 42000bph speed on a constant basis in order to be able to achieve the peak speed of the shrink-wrapper. An Ocme shrink-tunnel equipped with energy saving kit can be set to adjust its speed and run at the actual operational speed of the line at any time; thanks to its capability to monitor in real time the bottles flow conditions upstream of the shrink-wrapper it can adjust the speed of the tunnel mesh belt, of the heat fans, of the current absorbed by the resistors and of the cooling fans in advance in order always to guarantee the best required pack forming and shrinking conditions.

It means that the shrink-tunnel synchronises its speed to the rest of the line. The energy saving can be easily calculated. In addition to the above the shrink-tunnel is equipped with extra motorized curtains at the entrance and at the exit of the tunnel. These curtains close the entrance and the exit of the tunnel once no product is available in the shrinkwrapper. The curtains closing as well as the speed slowing down of all fans and of the mesh belt and also the reduction of the current to the resistors ensure a drastic reduction of the heat lost in the environment. The tunnel is set to...

In order to achieve the above the energy saving kit includes the following features: Sensors to detect temperature of the mesh belt • It allows adjustment of the speed of the cooling fans in order to reduce the cooling effect on the belt Cooling fans with inverters • The cooling flow is adjustable according to the actual mesh temperature Mesh belt speed adjustable • This allows control of the time that each pack spends in the oven in order to give optimum shrinking

Motorized curtains at the entrance and at the exit of the tunnel • It enables the correct width of the curtains to be set depending on the format in use. Thermal power adjustable in real time • In case of no product in the shrink-wrapper the tunnel runs in a stand-by conditions Average Estimated Energy Savings For all shrink-wrappers built between 2006 to date: ~ 28% For all shrink-wrappers built between 2001 to 2006: ~ 15% Installation This system can be retrofitted on all above indicated machines. The intervention is possible with a fairly simple operation. The installation does not...

Cod. TH02 New Generation Automatic Film Welder Application Field Machines Family Shrink-wrap Packers Models Vega S & Vega N Year of construction: from 2001 to 2005 Description New automatic film welding system for reel change: the new system allows for the checking of the printing position on the film via encoder in order to guarantee maximum precision in welding and print positioning on the pack. At the moment when the dedicated counter shows that the reel being used is coming to the end, the machine automatically switches to a low speed until the photocell (pos F) detects the printing tag...

Once the film is in position, a pneumatically operated vice clamps the film and a second pneumatic cylinder activates the welding bars, while at the same time the welding heating elements and the cutting wire for the finished film are activated. Once welding and cutting has taken place the welding bars are re-opened and cold air is blow in to cool down the welding area and guarantee the efficiency of the process. The film clamping vice is then re-opened, thereby actioning the brake to release the new reel in a controlled fashion, so as to avoid any jerking movement of the film which could...

Cod. TH03 Replacement of hydraulic brakes with electro-magnetic brakes Application Field Machines Family Shrink-wrap Packers Models Vega S and Vega N TH, THS and THN Year of construction: from 2000 to 2009 Year of construction: from 1992 to 2000 Description Replacement of hydraulic brakes with new generation electro-magnetic ones. These brakes, via a booster fitted to the rollers, allow a much more controlled braking of the reel in use in order to avoid jerking, pulling or slackening of the film being unwound. Braking occurs in an accurate and gradual way, avoiding movement or sideways...

welding operation of the film, the brake is automatically activated, transferred to the new reel in use. Via a manual pushbutton brake management can be transferred from one reel to the other. This upgrade is necessary in cases where upgrading of the machine to the automatic welding system is required (see Upgrade Cod. TH02). . Advantages compared to the traditional hydraulic braking system Improved efficiency on both low and high speed production. Facilitates management of printed film. Facilitates management of automatic welding on printed film. Easy maintenance due to lack of hydraulic...

Cod. TH04 Motorised cutting unit with independent servo-motor Application Field Machines Family Shrink-wrap Packers Models Vega S Year of construction: from 2000 to 2009 Description Introduction of a new motorised cutting unit fitted with an independent servomotor as an alternative to the present cutting system (which operates using the drive of the film unwinder motor and the rotation of the blade engaged/disengaged via an electro-magnetic clutch). The new cutting system offers greater flexibility in the formats which can be used on the machine. The dual function of the motorization units...
