It is engineered to provide protection from electric arc hazards. ProteraTM is inherently FR. This means that the FR protection won’t wash or wear away. The fabric is durable and comfortable and meets NFPA 70E requirements. The front closure, the cuff and ankle closures are equipped with hook and loop straps to provide additional protection. The hood window is manufactured with Oberon’s proprietary ArcX™ energy absorbing polycarbonate material. The hood window of the LCI3 offers a Visible Light Transmission (VLT) of 57%. The window’s outer surface comes with Oberon’s proprietary material Silicote™-1 scratch resistant coating, for longer product life, and the inner surface has a permanent antifog coating, for increased visibility. They will remain Flame Resistant after years of frequent and repeated laundering. LCI3 is also light weight. The outer surface of the hood window is scratch resistant coated to last longer. The inner surface of the shield is antifog coated for clearer visibility. Every lineman, electrical contractor, industrial electrician and thermographer, working in the proximity of an energized circuit, is at risk of severe burns or death in the event of an Arc Flash Incident. Every day in the USA, there are approximately 10 Arc Flash incidents and up to 2 fatalities. An Arc Flash can cause 3rd degree burns in a fraction of a second.
