Equipment designed for environments like climate controlled switchrooms will not survive in harsh process applications; its service life

understood and Process I/O has been designed to meet a similar
specification in terms of operating temperature range, shock and
vibration and corrosion resistance.
PROCESS I/O™ ANDHAZARDOUS AREAS Complete hazardous area capability isessential for any I/O system to satisfy allapplications in today’s process environments.For field mounted I/O this means the abilityto connect to certified field devices and evento locate it in hazardous areas.
In fact, applying a combination of techniques also allows both intrinsically safe and ‘high power’ (such as ac mains operated)devices to be operated from a single Process I/O node.MTL Process I/O meets hazardous area needs with safety beyondquestion.
3 MTL’s Process I/O has the lowest installed cost for a system that canmeet full statutory requirements, as well as providing the most flexible
installation and maintenance procedures that approval standards will
allow. For example, it is possible to modify and maintain a remotely-
located I/O node without removing power from the installation and
without risking the loss of valuable process data or control of the
process.A wealth of industry experience has allowed MTL to defineprocedures for live maintenance that expand the boundaries of
established practice. MTL Process I/O pioneered the ability to ‘hot
swap’ I/O modules in Zone 2 and Division 2 hazardous areas.As world leader in the technique of ‘intrinsic safety’ – regarded as thesafest and most modern technique for explosion prevention – MTL is

for both hazardous and safe areas.In some applications, particularly the siting of I/O in Zone 1/Division1, only the proven benefits of intrinsic safety used in conjunction with other methods of protection are satisfactory.
