Options cont. Electrical Resistance Contact Detector Tri-Mode Lubrication System
Especially useful in cases where aninsulating coating is on top of a
conductive substrate. This option
detects the first sign of substrate
exposure by measuring the electrical
contact resistance during the test. The Tri-Mode Lubrication system offers the choice of threelubrication modes: 1) Using a low pressure pulverization module,
air is compressed and filtered then mixed with liquid to create a
uniform spray that can be directed to the appropriate test zone. 2)
A drop by drop
lubrication with
flow control. 3) The soak
option performs tests
under fluid in a
specialized cup that
surrounds the sample
holder, allowing full
submersion of the
sample. >
Computer Controlled Radius
Allows unique spiral tests withmaximum distance of 40mm, and speed
of 0 to 20mm/min. This technique allows the ball to pass on a
much longer untested surface without interacting with the debris
created by the previous passes. >
The standard plexi-glass enclosure makes it possible to usespecific salt baths to create various humidity atmospheres,
appropriate for most applications. If the application requires a
higher level of control, a full humidity control system is available.
This advanced option makes it possible to accurately control
humidity levels, and includes the dehumidification and humidifi-
cation apparatus in addition to the automatic
humidity controller
with sensor. The Wear Displacement Sensor obtains direct measurement ofthe arm’s deflection as it corresponds to the total wear. This
technique provides the total wear depth of the sample and
partner. The maximum displacement is 2mm, with resolution of1µm. Additionally, a white light sensor can be installed to obtain
direct wear surface measurements with resolution of 2nm. This
option can be used independently on the 2D or 3D Micromeasure
profiler. >
Tribo-Corrosion Module Rotating Connector
Using a special container made of a resistant material thesample is tested under a variety of corrosive liquids. The rotative
electrical connector, connected to the base of the sample holder,
permits measurements of chemical potential during the test. This
unique Tribo-Corrosion Module is extremely useful in complex
applications where chemical corrosion and dynamic friction and
wear of mechanical parts are involved. A unique feature allowing signals from the sample to becollected even when the sample is rotating. This is ideal forvarious applications such as electrical continuity testing. >
Tribometry Software Package
The Tribometry Software (Microsoft WindowsXP/2000 compatible) includes a complete set of
features for installing the Tribometer and analyzing
data: • Real time display of friction coefficient, temperature, depth (optional), pin-
substrate electrical contact (optional). • • • Easy setup of all test parameters includ-ing: rotational speed, frequency, number
of rotations, threshold coefficient of
friction, temperature and time. Automatically calculates the meancoefficient of friction, standard deviation
and maximum and minimum values from
designated parts of the trace. Test information editing • Data export in ASCII format >
