OEM Customer Solution The fiber alignment system shown in the picture isanother example of our customized systems. It isdesigned for connecting two fiber arrays to a centralwaveguide component. The alignment of thecomponents is done in several steps. The coarsealignment is done with image processing. Two highresolution industrial digital cameras are used to measure theimportant features of the components, based on thatinformation, a coarse position is calculated. After thiscoarse positioning, some light passes from the lasersource through the waveguide to the detectors. In asecond step, the fine alignment, spiral scans are usedto find the absolute maximum of the light in an activealignment. Additionally, a tracking mode is included tohold the optimum position even during the connectingprocess with a thermally curing glue.
