Filter Fibel - 9155 where hydraulic equipment is located is usuallyunderestimated. The air that penetrates into the tank for level compensation must at least be filtered with the same fineness as that provided by the fluid-filter. Also component and seal leaks must beresolved as quickly as possible, for service andrepair work the openings provided on the tank must be covered, and must always remain closed when the equipment is in operation. Contaminants through hydraulic fluids Hydraulic fluid can become significantly contami-nated in production, filling, transport, and storage. Particularly storage in tanks and vats, results in problems, as such containers are not adequatelyprotected against corrosion, contamination, watercondensation, and dust from the environment. Online measurements of hydraulic fluid at firstfilling, and when servicing (topping off) often revealclasses of purity that are far below the fluid purity class required by the equipment. To improve thissituation fluid must always be filtered through suit- able filters, for the initial filling as well as when top- ping off. When filling, the filter effect must beachieved in a single passage, this means that therequirements placed on special filling filters are quite high.
