| Application Design Guideline Questions What process variable is to be measured? For what specific application/process variable do you plan to utilize the end sensor to measure? Is the measurement used for monitoring or for discrete control/closed loop control? What type of device will this process measurement signal in your system? What is the total required measurement range (+/-), i.e., the range in which accuracy requirements apply? Nm, Ib-ft, oz-in, etc. What is the maximum required overload rating (+/-), i.e., the maximum torque that the sensor must withstand without damage or performance degradation? What is the accuracy of the angle if measurement is required? What is the accuracy of the speed if measurement is required? What is the force that would be applied if that were to be measured? What is the deflection of the shaft if that were to be measured? What is the operating temperature range? Are there special environmental considerations? Is the shaft rotating during torque measurement? If so, what is the RPM range? What is the specified shaft material? What is the available radial packaging dimension? What is the available axial packaging dimension? What is the specified shaft diameter? If the shaft is hollow, please provide the inner diameter and wall thickness dimensions. If the shaft is an integral existing shaft, can a slight taper (1:48) be ground or machined in the sensor area? If question 19 applies, can the shaft accommodate a press-fit ring? Is the sensor integral to a shaft used for another purpose or can it be a separate unit connected in-line? What is the required VDC power to be supplied to this sensor? What is the required output of this sensor? What is the format - analog or digital? Please define the range and format for either. Is a wireless solution desirable? Is a display of the measurement to be provided? Are there any certifications that are required for this product? Are there any test procedures necessary outside of our normal test procedures? |
