The MegaRAID SAS 8200 series is the newest addition to the LSI Logic family of SAS/SATA RAID solutions based on rst-to-market SAS IC technology and proven MegaRAID technology. These adapters provide a low-cost RAID 5 solution for mid- to low-end server and workstation environments where high performance and reliable data protection are required. With support for both SAS and SATA II drives, customers can now congure custom systems employing a SAS/SATA adapter with low-cost SATA drives and/or high-performance SAS drives. As the recognized leader in driving and developing storage interface standards and technologies, LSI has extended its leadership with a complete family of SAS RAID solutions for the next generation of DAS for enterprise servers and high performance professional workstations. MegaRAID SAS solutions enable system builders to meet both performance and capacity requirements using either SAS drives, SATA II drives or a combination of both within a single platform. SAS drives provide speed, reliability and scalability for enterprise-class systems, while high capacity SATA drives allow for low-cost and ecient storage in data-dense environments.

A unique feature of the MegaRAID SAS 8200 product family is the ability to seamlessly migrate from these low-cost RAID 5 adapters to the more full-featured MegaRAID product line. Users can simply plug in the new adapter and easily import and recognize the existing array without having to do any reconguration. Plus, the ability to manage all MegaRAID SAS/SATA arrays from one single management client provides a consistent look and feel across all product lines.
