The second generation SAS HBA, the LSISAS9202-16e allows for 1024 SAS or SATA end-point devices. The LSISAS9202-16e HBA integrates the latest enhancements in PCI Express and SAS technology. The HBA supports medium to large capacity storage applications by connecting a 5GT/s, 16-lane PCI Express bus with four external x4 SFF8644 connectors. The HBA supports PCI Express 2.0 and is backward compatible with existing SAS products with PCI Express 1.0 interface. New enhancements include End-to-End CRC (ECRC) with Advanced Error Reporting (AER), power management, hot plug support, and MSI/MSI-X and legacy interrupt generation. The LSISAS9202-16e provides SAS and SATA data transfer rates of 1.5, 3 and 6Gb/s per lane and automatically negotiates between the speeds. Enhanced features include T-10 Protection Information Model for early detection of and recovery from data corruption, and Spread Spectrum Clocking (SSC) for EMI reduction. SAS Performance SAS performance advantages over parallel SCSI allow for greater increases in data throughput and performance. The LSISAS9202-16e can support a combination of 1024 devices and can achieve 640,000 IOs per second.
