| The company purchased a truck equipped to handle standard, 48" by 40" pallets in aisles as narrow as 5 feet. The unit handles loads to heights of 20 feet. Designed for agility, the unit also fills E.C.C.'s larger load trans- ■H^^^^HHI portation requirements. Parts as long as 30 feet, used to build three-dimensional models of aircraft and tank components for training military maintenance personnel, are easily moved in and out of cantilever racks. ^^^^^^^^m As a result of the truck's narrow profile, aisles in the company's long load cantilevered rack storage area need be only 8 feet wide. Because the truck performs with very little aisle space, E.C.C. was able to significantly increase storage density. Before the company purchased the SwingMast truck, it relied on two standard lift trucks to get the job done. "Keeping two lift trucks, Roscoe notes, would have meant adding an additional 10,000 square foot extension. Instead, a 6,700 square toot addition was all that was needed." In addition to reducing space requirements, the 4 cylinder, LPG-powered truck's ramp climbing ability satisfies E.C.C.'s peculiar transportation requirements. The solid pneumatic tires enable it to move from indoors to outside across improved surfaces. Roscoe is most satisfied with the trucks flexibility, E.C.C. Inc. has realized a "rapid return" on its materials handling equipment investment. "The truck has already paid for itself," says Roscoe. |
