If you go back to the dawn of engine history, you inevitably come across Prosper L'Orange, the founderof our company. He was responsible for key developments, such as the precombustion-chamber enginedisclosed in German Patent DRP No. 230517, now recognized to have been a milestone in engine design. The precombustion-chamber paved the way for the high-speed, self-igniting diesel engine, turning itfrom a stationary monster weighing tons into a compact all-rounder. Our numerous innovations have been continuing this success story to the present day. Our declared aim is tostay one step ahead of the competition to bring the latest technologies and solutions to production maturity, using our steadily grown expertise. The best example of this is our development and production of innovativeelectronic common-rail injection systems for large engines. In 1997, we were the first company in the world tosupply this technology.As a profitable, growing company with numerous pioneering achievements and patents to its name, we standfor technological leadership in our core segments. L'Orange high-pressure injection systems make it possible to combine low exhaust emission and low fuel consumption with a long service life. These efficient injectionsystems are an indispensable prerequisite for diesel engines with a low environmental impact. With a compre-hensive range from tried and tested conventional injection systems to the innovative common-rail system, L'Orange guarantees the ideal technology for every application in the output range from 1,000 to 40,000 kW. The high pressures of up to 2,000 bar in the injection systems require minimal manufacturing tolerances down to 0.001 mm and the maximum level of cleanliness in the production process.As a Tognum Group Company we have a total staff of about 700 employees at four sites.
