W hat’s New in Version 6The latest version of KeyCreator software continues Kubotek’s commitment to innovation. Building on our real geometry foundation, this version is packed with unique functionality and enhancements driven by customer requests. Our development team focused on advancing productivity and flexibility.ModelingSimplify Body – Improve the Quality of Imported ModelsSurfaces and solid faces exported from various CAD programs are converted to generic type spline surfaces. This allows for all downstream programs that can handle the generic spline surface type to successfully read the model. KeyCreator not only reads the spline surfaces but classifies surfaces in higher analytic forms such as planar, cylindrical and toroidal. The real geometry editing and feature discovery capabilities in KeyCreator make use of the surface types to aid in editing and selection. A new function Simplify Body converts spline surfaces and spline edges to analytics wherever possible. This function also merges redundant faces and reduces tolerant geometry. This is new technology designed to improve the quality of part models, making editing the model much easier. The figure below illustrates the application of Simplify Body on a mechanical part. Note the different count of the face geometry types after applying the function. The colors on the part show the faces that changed.Lightweight Assemblies – Work Faster with Complex AssembliesWhen working with complex assemblies using Part Reference capabilities, large amounts of memory can be freed by suppressing parts that do not need to be edited. Having more memory free increases system performance. However, the only integrated option available to represent the suppressed part is a wireframe cube of 12 lines indicating the envelope of the part. A function has been added on KeyCreator to generate a shell entity from the part before suppression. The shell is visually identical to the solid or sheet body but its memory footprint is significantly less than the memory footprint of the solid. |
