nternet coupling application program
Kop-Flex, a global leader in engineered couplings, recently launched its Internet Coupling Automation Program, iCAP. This is a coupling design tool on the company's Website.
The offering is claimed to be a powerful selection tool that allows users to accelerate information exchange with Kop-Flex engineering to obtain faster, more economical coupling solutions.
iCAP serves users that need couplings for high-speed turbomachinery and pump applications from steam or gas turbines to compressors, generators, gearboxes, or general industrial applications for petrochemical, refinery, steel, pulp and paper, utilities, power plants and other service.
Accessed from the Kop-Flex Website by those who register and qualify, the tool is claimed to dramatically reduce early design and development from a typical 72 hr to 96 hr down to minutes, in almost all cases. Security features make the drawings viewable only to user-authorized representatives.
Couplings available for design consist of Kop-Flex high-performance disc, diaphragm and gear and general industry couplings such as KD standard disc and gear couplings— Fast's and Series H. All are available in various configurations including close coupled, spacer type and floating shaft-to-slide type.
Additional features and benefits of iCAP include the ability to select a coupling based on the user's input parameters or industry coupling-related specifications such as API, ISO, AGMA, DIN or BSN.
Users can design a coupling with mass elastic data (weight, center of gravity, stiffness and more) and have the ability to customize or run iterations to their requirements or specifications.
Users can then produce a drawing that is viewable or downloaded in DWG, DXF and PDF formats. They then save their solution with an iCAP reference number for future retrieval or to consult with expert Kop-Flex coupling engineers.
