Automotive Safety and Comfort
People expect today's vehicles to be safe and comfortable above all else. Although chassis tuning is still the province of the individual manufacturer, passive safety of vehicles is now being tested and compared to international standards. Damage re-pairability is also becoming increasingly important. Objective evaluations of simu lations and tests of handling characteristics during different maneuvers and crash situations increasingly demand a knowledge of the way the forces vary.
Despite the enormous jump in passive safety expectations over recent years, the customer is still not prepared to compromise on design attractiveness, comfort or fuel consumption. This dichotomy is forcing the automobile industry to boost development on an ever shorter cycle. Reusable measuring systems and simulations are therefore finding increasing use to keep costs within bounds.
Improving comfort and safety with precise force measuring systems
Having seen this trend coming, Kistler offers sophisticated force measuring systems that satisfy the more stringent requirements of the market and play a decisive role in the determination of the forces involved in vehicle crash tests. Its product portfolio includes a sensor with matching measuring chain suitable for any application involved in testing individual components through entire vehicles.
In each particular case expert and experienced engineers carry out customization that allows representation of highly complex analysis and test systems. The demand for safety and comfort in the vehicle
