Torque measuring wheels
Single-component measuring wheels for measuring torque transmit their signals via a slip ring module and a cable by analog means to an on-board electronics unit in the vehicle. A near-field telemetry module is available as an alternative. This transmits the data amplified and digitized in the integral hub electronics directly to a receiver in the vehicle. Like System 2000, the system has TEDS functionality for ease of operation and protection against operator error.
Kistler offers a complete solution for each laboratory or vehicle application. Careful engineering and stringent quality standards ensure perfect integration and longevity without sacrificing ease of operation.
Wheel force measuring systems
Measuring wheels (spinning) form an internally rigid unit consisting of industrial load cells, rim adapter and hub adapter. This unit rotates with the hub, the measurement data being transmitted either wireless or via a slip ring mechanism. Spinning measuring wheels are used on the vehicle for on-road testing.
Measuring hubs (non-spinning) are identical in design to the measuring wheels, but are used on the test stand. They do not rotate, but are movable
within a small wheel travel range. The measurement signals are transmitted via cable.
Test stand hubs (non-spinning) incorporate an axle, one of whose ends is used to mount the wheel/tire under test. The other end is generally free, but can also be driven or braked. The bearings of the axle transmit the forces to the fixed 3-component sensors. The measurement signals are transmitted via cable.
