Acceleration The same Kistler sensor can be used to detect changes in velocity from moderate to lightning speeds. Kistler sensors provide valuable information in countless applications. For example: · The vibration signal generated by turbines or engines provides valuable information on the condition of various moving parts. · The dynamic behavior of aircraft wings needs to be tested and checked. · The bogies of high-speed trains have to be kept in position. · It is necessary to determine the torsional behavior of vehicle bodies, the stability of machine anchorings, the vibrational behavior of the supporting structure of roller coasters. For dynamic applications, Kistler has been making use of piezoelectric sensors for many years. These sensors are highly reliable and they can be used to measure frequencies over a very wide range, from minimal amplitudes in the µg range to enormous shocks measuring thousands of g. To measure static or low frequency acceleration, micro machined silicon sensors are the technology of choice. Their measuring principle is based on a change in capacitance of the measuring element in proportion to acceleration. Typical applications · Monitoring the vibration of rotational machines such as pumps and turbines · Modal analysis in vehicle and aircraft development · Measuring shock in car crash testing · Seismic measurements in tunnel construction · Machine tool monitoring · General vibration measurement in the laboratory 8795A... K-Shear® triaxial accelerometer with a measuring range of ± 50 g 6 www.kistler.com
