Calibration Methods Most of the sensors made by Kistler are calibrated at the works and supplied with a calibration certificate, identified by type and serial numbers. Similarly electronics are adjusted to be within published specifications. Wherever possible, existing standardized calibration procedures are followed, such as ISO 5347, part 3, for industrial accelerometers. Nevertheless, certain methods (e. g. for calibrating statically) must be modified to account for the characteristics inherent of the piezoelectric measuring principle. Also, in calibrating pressure the various pressure levels are applied in single steps (apply/remove pressure) and not in incremends. Industrial pressure sensors need to be calibrated at various temperatures and not only statically, but dynamically, too. Partial range calibration is a special feature of piezoelectric sensors. Some sensors are routinely calibrated over 100 %, 10 % and 1 % of their range. Kistler has some unique calibration facilities such as a 3-component force calibration machine and developed special techniques for precisely determining crosstalk in 3-component force sensors. Special calibration methods for other measurands such as AE (acoustic emission) are under development, too. Customized calibrations can be had both for new products, when recalibrating, and for products of other makers. Our experts will be pleased to assist you with their knowhow in finding a good solution for your calibration task. Calibrating pressure sensors at various temperatures Kistler Makes Quality Measurable Worldwide In over 50 countries, highly qualified sales and service engineers assure you of fast and reliable support with sound technical advice. We develop and make sensors for force, strain, pressure, acceleration and AE. Applications are very diversified and include vehicle engineering, combustion engines, metal working, acceleration, plastics processing and biomechanics. We in Winterthur and our US subsidiary have a quality management system certified per ISO 9001, our subsidiary in the UK is certified per ISO 9002. We not only invest considerably in R&D, but in training our internal as well as the staff of our distributors. You as our customer benefit from competent support and can take advantage of our knowhow by attending one of the many seminars and courses we offer in various fields of measuring techniques, such as measuring process parameters in plastic processing or metal working.
