Form-in-place Conductive Elastomeric Gasket - Kemtron - #1

The 1400 Series is a form in place conductive elastomer gasket that is automatically dispensed directly on to customers hardware or enclosures via a pressurised fluid dispensing system on a numerically controlled XYZ table.

The conductive materials available are silver plated aluminium in silicone (14010) and silver plated copper in silicone (14020). The materials are thixotropic by nature therefore minimising slump when deposited, bead width to height ratio will generally be 60/40 with bead widths as small as 0.65mm up to a maximum of 2mm. Depositing a bead on top of the first bead can increase the aspect ratio. Tool or sets up costs are kept low due to simple computer programming and accurate repeatability is guaranteed. Suited to applications where small, intricate gasket profiles are required such as on multi compartment labyrinth housings with minimum gasket land area where traditional larger types of gasket are not suitable. This process also negates the assemble costs associated with traditional gaskets as the form in place gasket becomes an integral part of the housing or enclosure. The process is suitable for depositing on both metal and metallized plastic componets/housing.

As well as providing an excellent EMI shield (>90db at 100Mhz), form in place also gives a good environmental seal against dust and moisture.
