Apart from the chance to bridge the time until transplantation with the use of a heart support system, there are also cases where the patient's heart recovers thanks to the relief from the artificial heart support and can continue to function without support. A transplantation is then no longer required. Equally, the system can also serve as long lasting support for the heart, if heart transplantation is out of the question for the patient.
