PowerSource 19 A rush to repower A John Deere dealer offers innovative solutions to keep a California road project on schedule Look for John Deere engines and drivetrain components at these upcoming tradeshows, conventions, and exhibits. CALEN DAR SEPTEMBER 8-10, 2009 SALTEX Windsor, UK SEPTEMBER 15-17, 2009 HUSKER HARVEST Days Grand Island, Nebraska, USA OCTOBER 6-8, 2009 INTERNATIONAL CONSTRUCTION & UTILITY EQUIPMENT EXPOSITION Louisville, Kentucky, USA NOVEMBER 8-14, 2009 AGRITECHNICA Hannover, Germany DECEMBER 8-10, 2009 Power -Gen International Las Vegas, Nevada, USA When Teichert Construction of Sacramento, California, faced a big road construction project using a Vermeer trencher with an outdated engine, the company turned to local John Deere construction and forestry dealer, Papé Machinery, to ensure the repower was performed right — and on time. “It was the start of paving season, and there was a level of urgency because Teichert needed the trencher to be ready for the job,” explains Mike Miller, product support manager for Papé Machinery. Papé Machinery sourced a Tier 3/Stage III A PowerTech E 4045H engine from Western Power Products. This John Deere engine distributor, located in Bakersfield, California, shines as a value-added wholesale distributor of John Deere industrial engine and drivetrain products. Western Power Products’ employees possess decades of engineering expertise in designing and building custom engine and powertrain packages for a wide variety of applications. “We helped configure the engine and determined the best alternatives for throttle control and remote-mounting of a PowerView™ display,” explains Mike Shaw, the distributor’s business support manager. Moving quickly on the project, Papé Machinery removed the nonregulated 2-cycle competitive diesel engine and prepared the new engine for installation. “We re-engineered the electrical wiring harness, replaced the hydraulic hoses, fabricated new engine mounts, and redesigned the brackets so that the new engine would fit the confines of the original design of the machine,” Mike says. John Deere distributors along with dealerships like Papé Machinery, possess all the customer support capabilities you expect from John Deere — superior service expertise and timely availability of genuine quality parts — all backed by the John Deere name. Dylan Green, service supervisor, and Mike Miller stand next to the Vermeer trencher recently repowered with a John Deere Tier 3/Stage III A PowerTech E 4045H engine.
