Above: Flygt TOPS basin prior to being lowered into existing wetwell during retrofit. At left: TOPS basin positioned in bottom of wetwell to improve solids removal and pump efficiency. new concept called “T-O-P-S” for “The Optimum Pump Station.” A preformed basin liner is installed to optimize the shape of the sump bottom for maximum solids removal and improved pump efficiency. The shape of the TOPS basin features hydrodynamically sloping sides, which funnel solid material directly to the pump inlet. The convergent geometry ensures controlled high fluid velocities that totally prevent solids buildup. In simpler terms, the sump is designed and shaped to clean itself, by keeping solids moving and directed toward the pump inlet. The TOPS basin can be installed in either new or retrofit pump stations. Automatic discharge connections for the pumps are first attached to the inside, after which the TOPS basin is lowered to the sump bottom. Concrete is then used to completely fill the space between the basin and the sump walls. Guide bars are attached at the bottom to the discharge connections already mounted to the TOPS basin. A special Multi/Joint® clamp connector is available to further simplify the attachment of a pipe to the discharge connection. Flygt also has the exclusive “Safe-Hatch” access cover to help you meet the tough new O.S.H.A. standards for fall-through and confined space entry protection. You can count on Flygt to have the experience and innovative products to make your retrofit a longterm success. 9 TOPS basin is lowered into bottom of wetwell, where concrete is then poured around it. Completed TOPS installation with guidebars, automatic discharge connection and Flygt pump installed. TOPS basin is easy to install
