Typical Applications The velocity range of +/- 4 m/s (240 m/min) is suffi-
cient for most industrial manufacturing processes.
Imaging optics are designed for a working distance
of 40mm and a distance tolerance of +/- 4mm.
Surfaces with optical structures caused by surface
roughness, color change or varying reflectivity easi-
ly perceived by the human eye, are a basic require-
ment for applying this product series. The achieved
accuracy of 1% in length measurement is compara-
ble to many solutions based on odometers and can
be significantly improved by using constant operati-
on distance and good optical conditions. >
OPTIPACTS
For High-Speed Applications Image correlation relies on image overlaps within a
captured sequence of images. With increasing
velocity, the size of these overlaps decreases. In
consequence, the maximum velocity detectable
depends on the optics design limiting the size of the
field of view of the
industrial camera. This parameter simulta-
neously influences the structures visible on the
image, the essential basis for image correlation cal-
culations. Ahigh optical resolution of fine structures
is therefore incompatible with a high velocity range.
The optics of the OPTIPACTS type series have
been designed for maximum velocities of up to
4 m/s. >
