Advances Towards New Fields of Application Due to its capability to register two-dimensional movement, its compact design and its sales prices at a tenth of today’s market prices for optical moti- on sensors, OPTIPACTis able to conquer new fields of application. Integrated LEDs, electrical out- put signals, an RS232 interface and a Graphical User Interface provide extensive possibilities for diagnosis and configuration, thus facilitating the start of operations and enabling preventative main- tenance. In addition to integrated automatic start and end-recognition for piece-goods, positioning tasks are also supported by identification of refe- rence marks.

Company brochure - 37997 OPTIPACTTECHNOLOGY

Image Correlation The OPTIPACTtype series determines distance traveled by comparison of a sequence of images. An area camera observes the moving surface of the medium being measured. The comparison of sub- sequent images also identifies standstill as well as a change in direction. The optical and electronic components are integrated into a compact and robust housing. The output signal is compatible with commercial incremental encoders and can be eva- luated to obtain length or velocity data. OPTIPACT is thereby working as a contact-free linear incre- mental encoder. The measurement technique relies solely on appropriate image contrasts enabling a correlation of the images recorded.
