DOSE-IT application notes - 1

P910 pump, the Microbiological Quality Control Group has established SOPs based on automated protocols that precisely dispense various solutions like growth media and buffers into tubes, bottles and Erlenmayer flasks. Of considerable importance to many laboratories looking to improve productivity is to establish safe fully automated SOPs. On this point Mr Leucci described how his group had achieved this with the DOSE-IT: After pressing the pause button, the dose being dispensed is completed and then the pump stops. This safe unattended operating mode allows the user to do something else in the lab while the pump is dispensing. This is especially useful when dispensing very large volumes of liquids which take some time to be completed. On returning to the DOSE IT the user can, at a single click of a button, resume the dispensing with the same settings within the same application in a new container like a bottle or flaskӔ. DOSE IT is a peristaltic pump which makes the dispensing of liquids in the laboratory easy and efficient. Providing high accuracy dispensing across a broad range of dose volumes (0.1 ml 10 L) and flow rates (0.6 ml/min ֖ 5L/ min) the high versatility of the DOSE IT reduces the need for a laboratory to have several single purpose pumps. An intuitive multilingual user interface, coupled with large ergonomically designed display and keypad are simplifying programming and operation to an unexpected point. The extremely simple setup and programming of the DOSE-IT peristaltic pump from INTEGRA Biosciences AG provides laboratories, where different dispensing protocols are frequently used and interchanged, with an effective tool to increase productivity and to improve the overall product quality of liquids including cell/bacteria growth media, stock solutions and buffers. Faced with the need to dispense several hundred samples per day following a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), the Microbiological Quality Control Group at F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG in Basel, Switzerland, required a versatile programmable pump that was both easy to use and efficient. Mr Leucci, QC Manager of the Microbiological Quality Control Group at F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG, commented An important feature of a programmable pump is ease of use and to have the possibility to save several dispensing routines as automated methods. Not just because it is faster, but especially because this way mistakes involving operator rewriting or changing/adapting a dispensing routine for each application can be avoidedӔ.
