User duties Risk evaluation must be led by the user in the workplaces where there is possibility of explosive mixture (excluding explosive or chemical unstable substances), with the purpose of: -preventing explosive mixture formation Alternately, if this is not possible: - avoid accidental lighting, eliminating possible sources. - mitigate effects. Manufacturer duties Manufacturer is bound by ATEX directive to demonstrate in a reproducible way, and in compliance with defined criterias, the availibility of documentation due to provide complete information of the measures used to prevent the...

All electric applications mounted on the gearboxes are in compliance with 94/9/CE second group, surface temperature category contained in the gearbox declaration of conformity. Excessive oil viscosity may cause dysfunctions, substitute oil as reported in the guide (greases and oils suggested.) Gearboxes with mineral oil come with a level plug. It's necessary to check periodically the oil level. In case of worn out seals or gaskets, please see an official repair centre. Bearings breakdown can occur only if overloaded. Therefore monitoring sensors are present to control temperature on the...

Output shafts and external surfaces must be properly cleaned from anti-rust, contaminative substances or other impurities. (use a normal solvent.) Do this operation out of the explosion danger zone. Solvents must not get in contact with seals to avoid damaging the material and affect his functionalities. If the oil or the protective product used aren't compatible with the oil used for the gearbox to work, an accurate washing of the internal of the gearbox is needed, before filling it with oil. Grease life on bearings decreases after periods longer than 1 year in stock. Grease used for...

The installer must know ATEX classification regarding the installation zone, as well as risks coming from a potentially explosive atmosphere in the environment, above all as concerns explosion and fire risks, so that he can adopt proper protective measures. All maintenance jobs, mounting and unmounting, must be done by...

Maximum surface temperature on gearboxes changes according to round numbers, transmission ratio and constructive shape and shall not in any case exceed 130°C (In some cases it can reach 160°C when indicated on the tag). Tag data, concerning maximum surface temperature, refer to measurements taken in normal environmental conditions and to a correct installation. Even minimum variations of these conditions (for instance restricted mounting areas) can affect badly heat increasing. Before setting the gearbox as operative, retrieve surface temperature in the same operational conditions expected...

SCHEDULEDI MAINTENANCE Keep the gearbox in a condition of maximum efficiency following scheduled maintenance as suggested by the manufacturer. Every 1000 h - Check outer seals and gaskets, verifying oil level and possible oil leakage; if any, repair or substitute components when needed. Every 3000h - For gearboxes with reaction arm, make sure polymer gasket are not worn out; if so, change them with new ones, to preserve their efficiency. Every 5000h - Check gaskets; if any are found to be worn out, ghange with new ones. For installations in zone 21 and 22 a specific cleaning program of...

To this purpose, verify the functionality of the temperature sensor installed on the gearbox during testing (see maximum temperature indicators characteristics). Furthermore, check that anomalous temperature is not produced near gearbox bearings. Check oil level according to the tables and diagrams described in the guide. Make sure there is no oil leakage near the gearbox. If any is found, track down the cause, proceed with reparation and eventually restore correct lubricant level before putting the gearbox in operation again. Moreover, every 5000 h running change bearings' synthetic oil...

Indication of gearbox positioning where the maximun temperature gange is set. All gearboxes provided with declaration of conformity according to Ex II 2 GD classification, with maximum surface temperature Tmax < 135°C, must be supplied with an external maximum temperature sensor, applied on gearbox housing. External temperature indicators are adhesive chemical gauges used to check the maximum temperature allowed. External temperature gauges must be characterised by: Indication of maximun temperature gauge. Dimension 15 x 14 mm 1. Color shifting within 1 second when reaching maximum...
