The revolutionary Portable CMM from Leica Geosystems is a Coordinate Mea-suring System that can probe like a CMM, scan like a laser scanner, track like a laser tracker in just one convenient system. It consists of a Leica Geosystems Laser Tracker combined with a Leica T-Scan or a Leica T-Probe – or both. The local po- sitioning technology lets a Leica Geosys- tems Laser Tracker follow the position of the probe or the hand scanner in three- dimensional space with 6 Degrees of Freedom (6DOF): the position of a Leica T-Probe or a Leica T-Scan is established not only in regard to their X, Y and Z coordinates but also in regard to their ori- entation (pitch, yaw and roll). That way, the position of hidden, difficult to reach or out-of-sight parts can be measured regardless of the way a Leica T-Probe or a Leica T-Scan is held to reach the part.
