Applications of HAMAMATSU opto-semiconductors

Observation of outer galactic space Detection of substances on asteroid surfaces

These Ccd sensors are scheduled for use in the International Space Station. There they will help in mapping of X-ray celestial bodies in space and observe fluctuations in spatial phenomenon outside our galaxy. InGaAs linear image sensor we developed for near infrared spectrophotometry is mounted in the “HAYABUSA (falcon)” - Japan’s asteroid explorer.

Dental X-ray imaging High energy particle detection

Front-illuminated CCD area image sensors and flat panel sensors are used for dental diagnosis panorama/cephalometric imaging and inline non-destructive inspec-tion. Our Si photodiodes, Si APD and Si stripe detectors are used in high energy phys- ics projects (CMS, CERN, KEK, etc.).
