1. Safety precautions Before you begin to deal more deeply with the device itself we would like to give you a few safety hints in advance. Please observe the respective DIN/VDE/EN/IEC/ANSI-guidelines, the rules and regulations for local operators and the instructions of the battery manufacturer. While preparing and performing a discharge/capacity test it may happen under certain circumstances that a cell/block can explode which can damage any equipment next to it and/or harm personnel. 2. The CS-3001 Measurement system The CS-3001 test system has a modular structure. Depending on your application it is build up with various modules. 3. Module description 3.1. The CS-3001/CPU module This module has to fulfill two tasks: • Control of all connected measurement modules • Communication with a PC via Bluetooth interface This module is the starting point of your application. All measurement modules will be connected with the

At the front side, you will see two main blocks : Block-1: To be able to power up the CPU-module and all connected components on [BUS 1] and [BUS2], you must insert a 24VDC power supply at [DC1]. If you do so, the green LED will start blinking, indicating that the module is ready for use. You will need a second power supply, if you want to connect modules on BUS-3 and BUS-4. The maximum module count on each bus should not increase 48. It is always a good practice to have a balanced distribution of your modules on the powered busses. 3.2. The CS-3001/6 module The CS-3001/6 module is used for the block voltage measurement. Up to six block voltages can be connected to one module. The measuring inputs are electrically isolated from the bus line. INPUT Block voltages Please connect the first CS-3001/6 with a CPU bus. Normally you will start with the outgoing [BUS 1] of the CPU module. All following modules can be daisy chained over the BUS-interface:

Please ensure that you connect the CS-3001/6 modules in ascending order (1, 2, 3, The block voltages of the battery will only be connected to the inputs numbered from [1-] to [6+] . You start connecting the block voltages from the most negative voltage, applied to the [1-] input terminal. Always be aware, that there is a internal connection between the [6+] and [OUT] terminal. So never attach any block voltages to the [OUT] terminal. Please use the following examples: Example 1: Using connection [OUT] 1 Example 2: Mixture of direct [1-] connection and [OUT] 1

It depends on your application, how the connection will be made. It is not necessary to use all inputs of a module. It is also not mandatory to connect all modules on one bus line. If you have one 24VDC power supply applied to the CPU module, it is possible to use [BUS 1] and [BUS2]. Example 3: Not all inputs used 1 This connection scheme makes it easy, using the modules in cabinets with lower block counts on each floor ( f. e. 4 x 5 blocks). 3.3. The CS-3001/UI module The CS-3001/UI module is used for measuring the total battery voltage and current simultaneously. The input for the battery voltage is electrically isolated from the current input. This isolation makes it easy to connect shunts on different common mode voltage levels. LOAD BANK The CS-3001/UI modules are numbered from 120 on. If you want to test batteries in parallel, please use ascending numbering (f. e. 120, 121, 122, ). The current input accept voltages in the range from ±100 mVDC and ±1000 mVDC. These ranges allow the use of current clamps and direct attached shunts....

4. Running a test Attention! Do only use 4mm-safety measuring cables and accessories (CAT III or higher). Attention! Always use safety gloves, while connecting the CS-3001 modules. 1. Power up your computer. Wait a time to be sure, that the Bluetooth – interface is working on your PC. 2. Power up the CS-3001/CPU module. To do so, please connect the 24 VDC power supply at the [DC 1] input. The green LED is blinking now. 3. Start the CS-3001-Light software on your PC. If the Bluetooth connection between the CPU module and the PC is established, the green LED stops blinking. At this time, there is...
