“Narrower And More Affordable Than Others”
An interview with Stephan Kuhn on the launch of the new product “LEG”
Mr Kuhn, can you explain ”in a
nutshell” your position at Franke?
Kuhn: I service our salespeople,
customers and a wide array of
projects; I also conduct technical
consultations as well as training
sessions, and serve as an authorised
representative in charge of product
rating. I am currently also servicing
the launch of the LEG.
How many Franke customers are
already working with the LEG?
Currently, three of our customers are
working on concrete projects using
the LEG.
Can you tell us what sectors these
customers work in?
Since we are still in the prototype
phase, we are not allowed to reveal
much information. Yet I can say this
much: the applications with which
we have previous experience are
solutions for gears. We are currently
working on an application for the
automotive sector. Here, the launch
should be concluded by year‘s end.
How many design engineers are
currently working on the LEG
applications?
An entire team of engineers and
technicians is taking care of the
implementation of projects, in close
co-ordination with our customers.
Where do you see the major
advantages of the LEG compared
to competitors‘ products?
Despite the narrower mounting
space, the LEG indicates higher load
capacities than the leading sim bearings.
The adjustment and installation
of the bearings is rather simple;
the surrounding parts can be
custom-designed. Another benefit
is the attractive price, particularly
when series are needed.
Do you cooperate closely with
customers in this area?
Of course. That is what Franke is all
about. We work with each customer
to create the best possible solution
for the particular application.
Thanks for taking the time to talk
to us. Stefan Kuhn, Technical Sales
The handling/assembly of the LEG is rather simple.
The bearing is available in diameters from 100 to 500 mm.
Numbers That Speak for Themselves
A comparison: the LEG vs. the leading slim bearings (on a scale of 1:2)
• The LEG can absorb significantly higher static and dynamic
radial forces than comparable slim bearings. In this process,
measurements are achieved, which nearly approximate the load
capacity of a slim bearings with a ¾-inch cross-section.
• According to the particular ball pitch diameter and bearing
cross-section, with LEG bearing elements, one can save up to
50 % in weight.
• The advantages of the LEG are rounded out by its very attractive
price. Primarily in cases where a series is needed, the costs lie
below the cost of slim bearing.
