The Sterling-HALBERG Principle The Sterling-HALBERG sludge mixer is a rotary pump. The actual pumping element, the propeller, consists of a hub with two opposing screwtype blades. The shaft extends with its propeller into the upper end of the riser pipe which stands free in the digester and a forced circulation is set into motion which prevents the buildup of deposits. Circulation is in either direction by reversing the rotational direction of the propeller. The Sterling-HALBERG Sizes Sterling-HALBERG sludge mixers are available in six different sizes from type MFS 2 to MFS 8, for digester volumes ranging from 200 to 20,000 m3.
