NON-METALLIC PRODUCT PROFILE THE STYLE HOT is a spiral wound gasket utilizing a combination of fillers to give superior sealing ability at extremely high temperature applications. Originally developed to accommodate nitric acid applications at elevated temperatures, the H.O.T. graphite/ceramic spiral wound gaskets have been replacing ceramic filed spiral wound gaskets which are being phased out due to inadequate sealing performance. Further research into materials yielded the use of mica in place of ceramic as an even higher temperature, stronger barrier to graphite oxidation. In fact, low pressure applications have found the use of mica alone to give more than satisfactory performance.
