Fast Ethernet Fiber Optic Transceiver (FOT)MDK300 - 35050 Media Demonstration KitMDK300E/FMedia DemonstrationKitfor Fast Ethernet andFireWire/i.LINK Fiber Optic TransceiversDESCRIPTIONFirecomms’ Media Demonstration Kits, MDK300E/F,enable customers to evaluate a fully functional Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) link operating over Ethernet at 100 Mbps/125 MBd or FireWire/i.LINK (1394b) at 200 Mbps/250 MBd.These kits can be used to perform packet loss, latency, and throughput testing of a POF link. In addition, the kits can be used for evaluation of applications, such as triple play content transfer across the POF physical layer where the Ethernet kit is used to evaluate IPTV delivered over 50m of POF at full line rate of 100Mbps/125MBd from a home server to a set-top box. Each Media Demonstration Kit includes all thepieces a designer needs to rapidly develop and deploy POF into existing media networks. Each kit includes two PCBs, each with an electrical port (RJ45 for Ethernet, 1394b 9-pin for FireWire/i.LINK) to link into an existing network and optical port. Each PCB is supplied with a DC power supply (available with US/EU/UK plug options). The length of the POF fiber (10m or 50m) and the POFtermination can be tailored to meet the customer’s specific needs. The kit can be configured with SMI connectors with the POF terminated with SMI plugs, or configured for bare fiber termination with the PCB fitted with Firecomms OptoLock transceivers to couple the bare fiber POF. The Ethernet Media Demonstration Kit is fitted withFirecomms EDL300K-120 Ethernet fiber optic transceivers while the FireWire Media Demonstration Kit is fitted with Firecomms FDL300K- 120 fiber optic transceivers. The Ethernet PCB has an IC+ Ethernet PHY, whichfeatures Auto-MDIX on the CAT5 termination so the electrical cabling will accept both patch and cross- over cables. The FireWire/i.LINK PCB has a T1 1394b PHY.MDK300E/F (Preliminary) Revision P1Firecomms assumes no responsibility for inaccuracies or omissions in the information contained in this document.
