MMS4000 DNC-Interface Component OverviewDNC interface provides a communication channel between MMS control system and Machine tool numerical controller as a:Point-to-point connectionThis communication method is used only in legacy systems and in retrofits when old machine tools with old controllers are integratedLAN connectionEthernet LAN supported by generally used communication software and methods such as FTP,TCP/IP Sockets. In most cases NC-controller vendor or MC vendor provides a software library for data interchangeDNC Interface enables MMS control system to exchange data with machine tool controller in a controlled fashion . This data exchange enables MMS to extend its nc-program and tool management . DNC Interface also provides flexibility in designating pallet jobs. The table below states the minimum interface functionality that the MC controller must provideMMS has to be able to:NoteBackground mode : term refers to the way of communication between Nc-controller and MMS. Background mode of the nc-controller means that MMS should be able to perform data transfer no matter what tasks are active in nc-controller. Download nc-programs to machine tools in background mode Delete nc-programs that are resident in nc- memory in background mode Read data of tools resident in machine tool after nc-program end and optionally receive tool data message always when tool is returned to tool magazine from spindleHigher utilisation ratios of MC´s can be achieved if the MC sends tool status messages Receive status messages indicating operational and functional mode of the machine tool |
