It moves slowly through the solution causing the ions to change their trajectory and migrate towards the workpiece’s edges, which have the highest current density. A diffusion layer fills the valleys of the part’s surface structure and removes the peaks. Special probe tooling can be used to direct processing to specific areas, such as internal features of a workpiece.
