System components - 4726 RIA452 Digital process displayFor monitoring and display of analog measured values with pump control, flow and batch functionsThe RIA452 process display is the innovative high end device in the Endress+Hauser display family. RIA452 application areas: • • • • • Water/wastewater branches Power supply Primaries Chemical industry Food and beverage industry The RIA452 offers a universal input so a large number of process values can be con- nected and monitored. Using the digital inputs the status of pumps or motors can be monitored. The measured value is represented in a multi-colored seven-digit 14-segment LC display. Numbers and engineering units are shown in white, the bargraph is yel- low, over and under range is displayed in red and the alarm set point markers and digital status inputs in green and yellow. Transmitters connected to the RIA452 can also be powered by the built-in loop power supply. Further operating modes for the relays are signaling sensor or device faults, or execut- ing batch and pump control functions. The scalable analog output offers a number of possibilities to retransmit the input signal: zoom function, linearization, offset, inverting, and signal conditioning (convert- ing in/output). The optional impulse output offers the possibility to generate integrated process values. Advantages: Simple commissioning using any one of 13 linearization curves used for the most commonly used flumes and weirs are stored in the RIA452. Increase of plant security and avail- ability due to the scrolled display of the complete application, e.g. height, flow and totalized value giving a fast process overview. ••• • • • • • •® 2000 operating software Pump feedback using status inputs •• Flow measurement ... an example of the versatility of the RIA452.The measurement of the flow in open channels is done using the Prosonic M which measures the height of the flowing medium. Using a linearization table that is stored in the RIA452 the instantaneous flow can be calculated. This can then be displayed, totalized or monitored for alarm set point violations. In addition the totalized flow quantity can be retransmit- ted to a superior system using the impulse output. Thanks to the high valued loop power out-put 4 wire sensors can be easily connected to the RIA452. The integrated memory will also store the smallest and largest flow rate during a specified time cycle. The digital control inputs can be used for monitoring pumps to increases plant availability. Should a pump connected to the input fail to acknowledge operatioin, then this will be seen as a plant fault.A message can be generated stating it is necessary to maintain the connected de-vices and a reserve pump can be started. 9 |
