This easy-to-install, field configurable flow meter provides the idéal solution for low-cost and extremely accurate and reliable flow measurement. Benefits Compatible with ail pipe sizes up to 80" (2000 mm) Superior performance at low cost Easy to use, field configurable, microprocessor-based transmitter Extremely high turndown capability; up to 30:1 Highly Accurate The Turbo-Bar insertion turbine flow meter detects the rotational frequency of the rotor blades using a magnetic, pick-up sensor. The local velocity is calculated by using a linear relationship between sensor input frequency and velocity, developed during calibration. The flow meter uses the local velocity along with other parameters, such as pipe size, fluid type, and Reynolds number to calculate the average pipe velocity and the flow rate (See Figure 1). In order to guarantee accurate measurement and verifiable performance, thèse algorithms have been developed from many years of empirical research using independent test laboratories, as well as NIST-traceable flow standards. Features Built-in loop calibration éliminâtes need for external equipment Pressure, température, and flow rate measurements from one tap 2-line by 8-character alphanumeric display of measured values, settings, and error codes Hart8 protocol communication available Overview The Turbo-Bar insertion turbine flow meter measures flow rates for a variety of fluids and pipe sizes. Unlike an inline flow meter, which replaces a section of pipe, an insertion meter is "tapped" into the flow line and can be mounted virtually anywhere. Insertion flow meters measure liquid, gas, and steam by detecting the local velocity at a strategically located position within a pipe. The Turbo-Bar is able to handle extremely high turndown requirements, up to 30:1, enabling one flow meter to be 100% accountable at ail flow demand levels. Reduced Installation Cost Insertion flow meters can be installed quickly and easily, thereby reducing costs. The "hot tap capability" allows Turbo-Bar insertion flow meters to be installed and serviced without process shutdown; a feature that not only saves on labor costs, but also avoids disruption of critical processes.
