The Intelligent Line Shaft – ILS – is the logical progression of Electronic Line Shafting. With ILS, the master receives feedback from every axis and calculates whether an individual axis is about to exceed its maximum speed or accelera-tion during the next machine cycle.During the critical phases of the motion profi le, the ILS-enabled master will slow that axis down to avoid exceeding the set limit. Outside the criti- cal motion phases, the virtual master may even increase the axis’ speed to a value signifi cantly above the previous set speed to compensate for the slower segment.
