The elements of the EMB modular reaction plant are fixed to a massive base plate with tensioning clamps. A structuralscreen allows individual combinations of all modules. Sealing is achieved by special stainless steel plates in combination with various seals, selected according to the reaction medium. The assembly principle not only ensures easy handling but alsoallows modules and sealing plates to be freely combined forthe lowest possible dead volume, short assembly times and aminimized complexity of replacement parts for the plant.Precisely manufactured microstructures come into operationinside the modules of the microreaction plant. Their charac-teristic dimensions are in the sub-millimeter range. The rangeof materials that can be worked is extraordinarily large. It in-cludes various stainless steels, copper, nickel and nickel alloys, as well as hard metals and ceramic materials.
