Deactivator FilterELIMINATES ODOR PROTECTS POOL STRUCTURE LONG LIFERemoval of Chlorine and Chlorine Odor from Indoor Swimming Pool EnclosuresUS Patent No. 527811253148525464598FEATURESReplaces Existing FiltersTwo Parts-Deactivator -Standard FilterEliminates“Chlorine” Odor Reduces or EliminatesCorrosion DESCRIPTIONThe revolutionary deactivating filter from DESERTAIRE CORP. provides a unique solution to a uni- versal problem in an indoor pool environment: Chlorine odor. What accompanies the odor (which is a combined chlorine compound called chloramine) is chlorine gas. Both of these compounds can be reabsorbed in water to form an acid which increases the effects of corrosion on the structure and other objects in the pool enclosure. When installed on a dehumidifier, these fil- ters are activated to protect your investment from the damaging impact of moisture and acid.Dehumidifiers are used to control moisture and the patented filtermedia is used to react with and to absorb chlorine compounds (also bromine based compounds) from the airstream. The filter media is uniquely manufactured as follows:1) The basic component is a naturally mined material calledzeolite. These compounds have well defined crystalline structures with connecting channels extending through them.2) A special reducing agent is impregnated into the zeolitethrough a patented process. This allows the reactive compound to cover all pores of the material completely, providing sufficient surface area for chlorine removal. These filters are manufactured with a second stage that is com-posed of a standard filter media to remove airborne dirt and dust.DESERT AIRE’s special deactivator filter is designed as a dispos-able assembly. The chemical reaction that takes place with this filter forms an inert compound which is not hazardous and can be dis- posed of in a conventional manner. The filter’s life does depend on the pools usage and the quality ofthe pool waters chemistry. More activity and bad water chemistry release more chlorine to the air. Average filter life is approximately 4 months for commercial pool usage and 6 months for a residential pool. 8300 West Sleske CourtMilwaukee, WI 53223 (414) 357-7400 FAX: (414) 357-8501236 02/96 |
